Welcome to Books by Liz
Let's Go Bowling - A Beginner's Guide to Lawn Bowls has been created for people who are new to the sport and want to feel confident from their very first day on the green.
This practical 12-page booklet provides a clear, beginner-friendly introduction to lawn bowls. It explains the basics in simple language, covering everything from equipment, rules and scoring, to technique, etiquette, player roles, rink awareness and bowling terminology.
Designed to complement club new member induction, the guide helps new bowlers understand how the game works, what to expect, and how to get involved with confidence. It answers the questions beginners often have but may not think to ask, reducing confusion and helping players feel comfortable, included and ready to enjoy the sport.
Whether you're considering lawn bowls, have just joined a club, or are supporting new members as a club administrator, Let's Go Bowling is an easy-to-use resource that makes the learning journey simpler, faster and more enjoyable.
Learn the basics. Build confidence. Enjoy the game.
New players want to feel confident quickly, but for various reasons they don’t always receive the guidance they need
Topics covered include: • What is Lawn Bowls • Why You’ll Love It • Equipment • How the Game Works • Simple Technique Tips • Player Roles • The Green, Rink & Layout • Playing Surface • Scoreboards & Scorecards • Rink Awareness • Etiquette & Culture • Getting Involved • Glossary of Bowling Terms.
Clubs can order packs of 10 (or more) and are welcome to on‑sell as a small fundraiser or simply include the booklet in new‑member welcome packs; also sold individually.
The aim is simple: to help new bowlers feel confident, included, and excited to continue —while making the job of welcoming new members easier for clubs.

As a new player, Liz had a basic understanding of the game but that was it.
Fortunately, her husband had played lawn bowls for many years and was able to explain the game, player roles, the terminology, etiquette and nuances of playing.
Many new players, however, do not have a ‘ringer’ to call upon, so Liz drew upon her experience in corporate communications, training and life coaching, and created this simple 12- page guide for beginners.
It’s a useful, easy read which anyone new to the sport will benefit from reading and the big plus is it makes the job of introducing new players to the sport simple for clubs.
